Week 3 in Review!

week

Grandma V came to town on Saturday night (my MIL), so we have been spending time with her this week!  Family Movie night was The NeverEnding Story which is now free streaming with Amazon Prime!

Bedtime story this week has been How to Eat Fried Worms, read by DH (he typically does the bedtime stories).

Monday – Labor Day!  While everyone else was headed home from the beach, we made our way there! One major benefit to Homeschooling – Vacationing while others are in school!! We arrived at the beach and set up camp! Spent the evening at the beach, the kids jumped right in as if they had never left the beaches!  (though these beaches are far from Hawaii beaches, made me miss Hawaii even more).  They still have their cool features though, and the kids had so much fun!  More about this trip next week for Field Trip Friday!!

Tuesday – A full day at the beach.  We also did some crabbing from the pier and stopped by the Visitor’s Center.  We checked out their exhibits, watched a video and got some junior ranger activity books.  We planned to finish and return on the way home but found out they are closed on Wednesday’s…so we brought them home.  We are going use them as a follow up activity, as well as reading the book Misty of Chincoteague. The kids had fun collecting shells, horseshoe crab carcasses and tails, boogie boarding, building sand castles, observing mole crabs and more!  They caught two crabs, but by regulations one was too small to keep.  We cooked the one up though and everyone tried it.

Wednesday – packed up first thing, check out was at 11am.  We decided to not hit the beach, it was cooler out and we didn’t want to go home all sandy.  We stopped in DE for some fresh dairy ice cream…YUM!!

After we got home, DH did some baking with the boys!  (Check out Dad and Kids in the kitchen this coming week!)

Thursday – We went peach picking at a local orchard.  Then Dh took the kids to my preschooler’s gymnastics class, while I canned tomatoes.  We had an over abundance from the garden, and they were starting to go bad!  Then they all went biking at a local park while I finished up with the tomatoes.  Then off to soccer for my oldest after dinner!

Friday – The kids had fun playing games with Grandma V (Money Bags), helping Daddy do some yard work while hunting for worms to go fishing after dinner, playing in the rain and working on a model car!  I made a CTR towel for C for his baptism tomorrow and ran a few errands.  Baby girl had fun looking at books and getting into mischief with the wipes container!!
